ArcKit has always been about enabling architects to deliver better, faster, and with greater traceability. The toolkit compresses weeks of governance work into focused sprints, produces decision-grade evidence automatically, and keeps architecture decisions aligned with policy and standards. But a toolkit is only as good as the people who use it.
Today we're introducing the ArcKit Architects directory — a place to find experienced professionals who have proven expertise using ArcKit in real-world engagements.
What Is the ArcKit Architects Directory
The ArcKit Architects page is a curated directory of senior practitioners who use ArcKit to deliver enterprise architecture governance, training, and AI-assisted consulting services. These are architects who have demonstrated experience with ArcKit in client engagements and can help your organization adopt the harness effectively.
Currently, the directory features Mark Craddock, the creator of ArcKit and lead of the Forward Deploy Engineering (FDE) practice. Mark brings extensive experience in UK public sector digital transformation, specializing in:
- Architecture Governance
- AI-Assisted Delivery
- Team Training
- Bootstrap Engagements
- Embedded Architecture
But this is just the beginning. We want this directory to grow into a network of ArcKit professionals across sectors and geographies.
Why a Directory Matters
Enterprise architecture isn't just about tools — it's about judgement, experience, and the ability to navigate complex stakeholder landscapes. While ArcKit automates the structural work (principles, requirements, risk, stakeholders), senior architects bring the synthesis that turns evidence into decisions.
The directory serves several purposes:
For organizations seeking help: Find architects with proven ArcKit experience who can embed into your team, run a bootstrap sprint, or train your staff to use the harness independently.
For architects: Gain visibility for your ArcKit expertise, receive referral opportunities, and join a network of like-minded practitioners.
For the community: Build a sustainable ecosystem where ArcKit adoption creates opportunities for the professionals who make it work.
The Broader ArcKit Community
While the Architects directory highlights professionals available for consulting and training engagements, ArcKit itself is an open source project with a much larger community. The ArcKit Contributors page showcases everyone who has helped build and improve the toolkit through code contributions, feature requests, bug reports, and architectural ideas.
This community is the foundation of ArcKit's growth. From early contributors like @umag (Magistr) who built the initial Gemini CLI support, to @DavidROliverBA who has consistently added production-ready features like security hooks and the /arckit:health command, to @alefbt (Yehuda Korotkin) who brought ArcKit to OpenCode CLI — each contribution makes the toolkit more powerful.
The architects in the directory are a subset of this community: those who have moved from using ArcKit to offering professional services built on it.
How to Become an ArcKit Architect
If you're an experienced enterprise architect using ArcKit in client engagements and want to be listed in the directory, we want to hear from you.
Requirements
Listed architects demonstrate:
- Proven ArcKit experience: Successful use of ArcKit in at least two client engagements
- Public sector familiarity: Experience with UK government standards (Green Book, Service Standard, Technology Code of Practice, etc.)
- Senior practitioner status: 10+ years of enterprise architecture experience
- Commitment to quality: Ability to produce decision-grade governance evidence
Benefits
Listed architects receive:
- Referral opportunities from organizations seeking ArcKit expertise
- Access to ArcKit updates and early visibility into new features
- Inclusion in marketing materials promoting the ArcKit ecosystem
- Network access to other ArcKit professionals for collaboration and knowledge sharing
Application Process
To apply, contact me with the subject "ArcKit Architect Enquiry" and include:
- Your name and organization
- Your LinkedIn profile (or other professional presence)
- A brief summary of your ArcKit experience (engagements, outcomes, specializations)
- The services you offer (consulting, training, embedded architecture, etc.)
- Your geographic location and preferred engagement models
We'll review your application and, if approved, add you to the directory with a profile that includes your photo, specializations, service offerings, bio, and contact information.
For Organizations Seeking ArcKit Help
If you're looking for an ArcKit architect to help with your project, you have several options:
- Browse the directory at https://tractorjuice.github.io/arckit-fde/architects.html and contact architects directly
- Request a referral by contacting me with the subject "ArcKit Architect Referral" and a brief description of your needs
- Start with a bootstrap sprint — a fixed-price, fixed-scope engagement that produces the four-artefact governance pack (principles, requirements, risk, stakeholders) in one intensive week or across five weeks
Typical follow-on work after a bootstrap includes:
- Design and decisions: ADRs, high-level design, traceability matrices, conformance reviews
- Procurement and vendor: SOW development, evaluation frameworks, G-Cloud/DOS clarification, build vs buy support
- Assurance and AI: Service Standard readiness, Secure by Design, DPIA, ATRS records, AI Playbook compliance
- Team enablement: Standing up your team to run ArcKit, Claude Code, and the governance cadence independently
The Forward Deploy Engineering Difference
What sets ArcKit architects apart is the Forward Deploy Engineering approach: senior practitioners embedded directly into your delivery team, not pitched at it from off-site. This means:
- Real constraints, not edge cases: Classification rules, legacy estates, supplier contracts, assurance routes — these are the operating environment, not exceptions
- Judgement where it matters: Architecture decisions made where the programme is making decisions, not in a deliverables backlog produced remotely
- Evidence at pace: ArcKit automates the structural work so architects can focus on synthesis and judgement
- Fixed price, fixed scope: No open-ended discovery, no per-week retainer — clear outcomes for predictable investment
Get Involved
The ArcKit Architects directory is just one part of a larger ecosystem. Whether you're a practitioner looking to offer services, an organization seeking help, or a contributor wanting to improve the toolkit itself, there are multiple ways to get involved:
- Become an architect: Apply to be listed in the directory
- Contribute to ArcKit: Submit PRs, report bugs, request features at github.com/tractorjuice/arc-kit
- Join the community: Engage with other users and contributors through issues and discussions
- Explore the toolkit: Try ArcKit in your own projects and see how it transforms your architecture governance
The directory, the toolkit, and the community are all growing. And they all share the same goal: making enterprise architecture governance faster, more traceable, and more effective.
